Attendance with the Alphanumeric Code
The Alphanumeric Code is a unique code consisting of letters and numbers that are generated for each attendance session. When provided by an instructor, this code can be entered into a student's CourseKey account to check-in/out for attendance.
Typically our Sound, QR Code, Biometrics, or GPS technology is used for attendance, but in certain cases, the Alphanumeric Code provides some additional flexibility. For example, our QR Code and Sound technology require that students check-in from the CourseKey app on their smartphone or tablet, or there may be a case where a student's device does not have face/print scan technology. If this type of technology is used in your classroom and a student does not have this type of device available they can log in on a web browser and enter the Alphanumeric Code. Individualized settings for student permission to use the alphanumeric code can be adjusted in the course roster. For more information please check out the article: How to Configure Your Roster Settings
Locating the Alphanumeric Code
For courses that use GPS or Sound technology, the Alphanumeric code is located on the Attendance List page. Click the 'a#' button to reveal the code for that session.
For courses that use QR Code technology, the Alphanumeric Code will be visible just below the QR Code when it is displayed.
Entering the Alphanumeric Code
To check-in using the Alphanumeric Code students only need to press the Attendance tile in their course and they will be prompted to enter the code.
