How to Configure Your Roster Settings
The attendance technology (Sound, GPS, or QR Code) and alphanumeric (A#) toggles in the class roster allow you to select which type of check in is allowed for the students in the course. Turning on either toggle or both toggles will have a different effect.
a. Attendance Technology: On; Alphanumeric: Off
With the attendance technology toggle on and the alphanumeric toggle off the students will only be able to check in using the attendance technology selected: GPS, Sound, or QR Code. This can create an issue for students without a mobile device using Sound or QR Code attendance.
b. Attendance Technology: On; Alphanumeric: On
Turning the alphanumeric toggle 'On' will allow a student to check in using the alphanumeric code. For example, if a student is unable to use their mobile device, they will be able to enter the alphanumeric code for Sound or QR Code attendance. However, when attendance technology toggle is also set to 'On' the student's device will first attempt to use that option. This can create an issue if the student's device has the capabilities to use that technology. For example, our GPS attendance technology can be used on both mobile devices and laptops, so with this setting they will not be able to enter the alphanumeric code.
c. Attendance Technology: Off; Alphanumeric: On
When the attendance technology toggle is turned off and the alphanumeric is turned on, then the alphanumeric code becomes the default check in option. This can help prevent errors if the student is attempting to check in with a code on a mobile device.
Adjusting the Toggles
1. Log in via the web application, select your course, and navigate to the Roster page.
2. To adjust the settings for all students, use the toggles located in the header above the list of students. Click on the toggle to turn that option 'On' (Blue) or 'Off' (Grey).
3. To adjust the settings for individual students use the toggles located directly to the right of that student's name.
