Student-Led Make-Up Hours

Approving Make-Up Time as an Instructor or Admin

Instructors and admins can review and approve or reject make-up time logged by students. The Make-Up Hours tab will be available within the course where the Make-Up Hours setting is applied. Admins can also access this page through notifications to review make-up hours.

1. Log in to the CourseKey admin portal.
2. Check the notifications on the upper right corner to see if any make-hours need reviewing. Click on the notification to go to the ‘Make-Up’ tab.

3. Review the list of pending make-up time entries.
4. Select one entry or multiple to approve or reject the entry by clicking the corresponding button. Once approved/rejected, students will receive a notification of your actions.

Enabling Student-Led Make-Up Time for a Course

To Enable Student Led Makeup time - please work with your Client Success Manager or Implementation Team to update your Course Type (Delivery Method Settings). You will need to determine how many days AFTER the course ends you will allow makeup time.

To Validate settings - view Course settings: Navigate to “Courses” and select the “Course Info” tab on the top menu to view course settings for “Student Led Makeup”. 

Admin FAQs

What happens after I approve or reject make-up time?
Students will receive a notification regarding the approval or rejection of their make-up hours.

What happens if a student forgets to check out?
Students will be automatically checked out when the next class starts or at the end of the allowed period for logging make-up hours. Admins may need to reject the student-led make-up hours if incorrect and manually create make-up hours to accurately reflect the time logged.

Can I still make edits to the student’s make-up hours?
No, make-up hours are not editable. However, admins can reject incorrect make-up hours and manually log the correct time.

What happens if I accidentally approve or deny makeup time?
If you accidentally approve - you will need to reach out to CourseKey support to remove/edit the makeup time record.

If you accidentally deny - you will need to add Makeup time that is correct through the Admin “Add Makeup Time” to document the correct amount of makeup hours.

Do breaks affect make-up hours?
No, breaks do not affect make-up hours.
